The Place Holder by Lilian Cancino

Temporarily he took my pain away,

temporarily I laid my head on his chest.

Restless nights we’d lay together replay in my head

Oh I wish he’d stay,

I plead I could be chained to his bed.

I’d never leave that bed, the bed I felt comfort in,

as the days turned into months,

nights spent with you replay in my head.

There’s no use to keep you near,

for I know it’s true you’ll soon disappear,

so temporarily I’ll keep you in my head,

as I temporarily lay in your bed
